What vaccinations do I need for my trip to Uganda?

Before your trip to Uganda, it’s important to have the right vaccinations. Yellow fever vaccination is mandatory for all travelers. In addition, Hepatitis A and an extra polio vaccination are recommended.

Other vaccinations may be advised by your doctor depending on your medical history.

Uganda is also considered a risk area for malaria. Therefore, it is recommended to use malaria preventive medication, in addition to good mosquito protection.

Regarding vaccinations and malaria prevention medication, we strongly recommend to visit a travel clinic or doctor for personalized advice; they will choose the medication that best suits you.

Can I customize the trip to my own preferences?

We offer a fully planned road trip, so it is not possible to adjust the duration or schedule of the trip. Of course, you are free to extend your journey on your own, for example, by spending a few extra days in Uganda or continuing your travels to another country.

Can I still cancel my trip?

t is always possible to cancel your road trip. You can find the terms and conditions here. Additionally, you can rely on the Superflex cancellation policy until December 1st (for the Summer edition) and June 1st (for the Winter edition) For more information, see the FAQ: “What are the Superflex cancellation terms?”

Please note: Gorilla & Chimpanzee trekking permits are excluded from our standard cancellation refund policy. Due to the strict regulations of the Uganda Wildlife Authority, these permits are non-refundable once purchased. While we cannot offer a full refund for permit costs, we will make every effort to move your permit to a different date, subject to availability and any applicable administrative fees.

What about insurances?

Travel Insurance €79
Want to travel with peace of mind? Take out a personal travel assistance insurance. If you already have travel insurance, it’s a good idea to check whether it also covers you in Uganda.

Cancellation Insurance €89*
We recommend that everyone opts for cancellation insurance when signing up. Plans can change, and sometimes a trip may need to be canceled unexpectedly. You can review our flexible cancellation terms here.

*the cancellation insurance does not cover the gorilla & chimpanzee permits. We adopt the cancellation policy of the Uganda Wildlife Authority:

  • 61+ days before trekking: 75% refund
  • 46 – 60 days: 50% refund
  • 15 – 45 days: 25% refund

Is there support on-site?

Upon your arrival in Uganda, you will be warmly welcomed by our local partners. They will greet you and give you a brief introduction before you start your road trip.

During your road trip, you can access all sorts of useful information through our app. Additionally, just before your departure, you can join the chatgroup (via the app) with all participants leaving on the same date. In this group, you can communicate with each other, and a team member will be available in case of emergencies.

What’s in the roadbook?

Our roadbook contains all the information you need for a successful road trip in Uganda.

On one hand, it includes the complete route. We guide you to both well-known and lesser-known places that you won’t find in major travel guides. The suggested stops along the way are just that-suggestions: you can decide for yourself where and how long to stop at each location.

In addition, our roadbook also features a variety of fun spots where you can grab something to eat or drink.

What are the extra costs?
  • Fuel: approximately €500 per car for the entire road trip.
  • Food and drinks: see more details under the Food & Drinks section but account for €25 – €30 per per person per day.
  • National park fees: $12 per car per day and $40-45 per person per day. You will be staying in a national park for 5 days in total, so expect to pay around $240 per person for all entrance fees.
How does the payment process work?

Within 10 days of registering, you will need to pay a 35% deposit to confirm your road trip. After that, you have until 45 days before departure to make changes to your options and pay the remaining balance. If you make any changes, the deposit will be automatically recalculated.

In addition, shortly before departure, you will need to pay a security deposit if you have not opted for insurance coverage for your car.

There are various payment options available. If your payment fails, it is likely due to a mistake in entering the reference number or exceeding your account limit.

What are Superflex conditions?

These conditions are available to anyone who books early. You can reschedule your road trip to another date within the same season (subject to availability) or cancel free of charge before April 1st for the winter season and December 1st for the Summer season.

Please note: the superflex policy does not cover the gorilla & chimpanzee permits. We adopt the cancellation policy of the Uganda Wildlife Authority:

  • 61+ days before trekking: 75% refund
  • 46 – 60 days: 50% refund
  • 15 – 45 days: 25% refund
  • 0 – 14 days: No refund
Give back to nature via Greentripper

The planet gives us so much beauty to admire, but if we want to be able to do that in the future, we must protect it today. That is why we make extra efforts to reduce the impact of our trips, and in the booking form, you can contribute in a reliable way to a climate project from Greentripper, which brings the CO2 emissions of your transport back into balance.

By contributing to their certified project in Uganda, you help distribute more efficient cookstoves that significantly reduce fuel consumption. This initiative of 11 local projects protects vulnerable forests from deforestation, improves the health of families through better indoor air quality, and stimulates the local economy by creating employment. The project is Gold Standard certified, guaranteeing the highest international standards for environmental integrity.
