FAQ

Here are some frequently asked questions. If you have any other questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us.

What facilities are available at the campsites?

The campsites are almost always located on the grounds of the lodges. This offers the experience of camping, with the lodge’s facilities within easy reach.

  • Sanitary Facilities & Dining: You will have access to shared bathrooms with toilets and showers. Additionally, you can make use of the lodge’s restaurant and bar. This means you can choose to cook for yourself at your tent or sit down for a freshly prepared meal.
  • Electricity: There are usually no power points directly at the campsite itself. however, you can easily charge your devices (phones, cameras) at the central power outlets in the lodge’s common areas.

Our recommendation: Bring a power bank for emergencies. Bring and use a car charger so you can also charge your equipment while driving to your next destination.

Which national parks can I visit for safari?

During your trip, you will visit the following national parks:

  • Lake Mburo (1 day)
  • Murchison Falls National Park (2 days)
  • Queen Elizabeth National Park (1 or 2 days)

Entrance fees for the national parks must be paid on-site. The costs for these are $40 – $45 per day per person, and $12 per day per car for the national parks. You will also have the opportunity to visit Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary for rhino trekking ($60 per person).

Can I customise the trip to my own liking?

As we offer a fully organised trip, it is not possible to adjust the duration or itinerary. However, you are free to extend your trip independently by spending a few extra days on site afterwards, for example, or continuing your journey to another country.

Is there on-site support?

On arrival, you will be warmly welcomed by our local partners, rangers or guides. They will greet you and give you a brief introduction before your trip begins.

You will also be given access to a chat group with all the other participants departing on the same date just before you set off. You can use this group to chat with each other or with our team.

Where will you spend the first night?

In most cases, you’ll spend the first night at the Green Valley Guesthouse in Entebbe.

  • If you booked your flights through Uganda Nomads, your shuttle to the hotel is included and already arranged.
  • If you booked your own flights and arrive on the same day as the Uganda Nomads itinerary, the shuttle is also included. Just update us about you arriving time.
  • If you arrive on a different day than the Uganda Nomads itinerary, you can easily arrange a taxi or Uber at the airport. Prefer to pre-arrange a shuttle?  Contact us and we will help you out!
Do I have a pop-up roof if I also have a rooftop tent?

No, if you choose a rooftop tent, you will not be able to use the pop-up roof during safaris.

Before your trip to Uganda, it’s important to have the right vaccinations. Yellow fever vaccination is mandatory for all travelers. In addition, Hepatitis A and an extra polio vaccination are recommended.

Other vaccinations may be advised by your doctor depending on your medical history.

Uganda is also considered a risk area for malaria. Therefore, it is recommended to use malaria preventive medication, in addition to good mosquito protection.

Regarding vaccinations and malaria prevention medication, we strongly recommend to visit a travel clinic or doctor for personalized advice; they will choose the medication that best suits you.
