Murchison Falls National Park
Uganda's largest national park with the world's most powerful waterfall.
Murchison Falls NP is a captivating destination where the raw power of the Nile merges in a breathtaking moment with vast savannahs and lush river forests.
The river forces its way through a narrow gorge of less than 7 meters and thunders down 43 meters — a spectacle that makes the earth tremble.
Additionally, the park is home to one of Africa's richest biodiversities: over 450 bird species, including the iconic shoebill stork, along with impressive wildlife such as elephants, lions, giraffes, crocodiles, and chimpanzees.
Whether you're drawn by spectacular landscapes, wildlife adventures, or the chance to spot rare birds — Murchison Falls offers it all in one unforgettable experience.
During Uganda Nomads, you'll stay for 2 nights in the National Park.
Day 1: The Top of the Waterfall
After entering (in the afternoon) through the West Gate, you head towards the iconic highlight of the park: the top of Murchison Falls. Via a challenging but rewarding hike (or drive), you’ll reach this natural wonder, where the mighty Nile forces its way through a narrow gorge and cascades down with thunderous power. This panoramic view is an intense moment of awe—a perfect introduction to the rugged beauty of the park.
Day 2: Morning Safari and Afternoon Boat Cruise
The second day begins with an early safari across the park's savannas. Here, you can spot large grazers such as elephants, Cape buffalo, giraffes (including the rare Rothschild giraffe), and Uganda kobs—the national antelope of Uganda—as well as waterbucks, bushbucks, Jackson’s hartebeest, oribi, and warthogs.
Predators like lions are often active at sunrise, and with a bit of luck, a leopard might cross your path.
In the afternoon, the included boat cruise on the Nile offers a completely different perspective on wildlife. During this relaxing trip, you’ll see hippos in the water, crocodiles on the shore, elephants bathing or drinking, buffalo and warthogs along the water's edge, while a flock of colorful water birds—including kingfishers, fish eagles, herons, cormorants, and sometimes even the rare shoebill stork—soar above you.
This combination of land and water views highlights the diversity and dynamism of Murchison Falls in a compact, unforgettable way.
